Cannabis Oil in South Africa
ADHD patients successfully treated with Cannabis Oil
Cannabis oil use is on the rise in South Africa with people being more educated by way of the internet on the true benefits that this wonder plant can offer. According to a recent study in Germany, cannabis therapy was shown to have a positive effect on the treatment of ADHD suffers.
In a German study involving 30 patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who had had limited success with conventional treatments, all subjects reported ‘improved concentration and sleep’ and ‘reduced impulsivity’ following cannabis therapy.
Twenty-two of the 30 elected to discontinue their prescribed pharmaceutical drugs and continue solely with the medicinal cannabis.
There are masses of anecdotal reports of marijuana’s efficacy in the treatment of ADHD, but hard scientific data is still thin. One 2008 study found a ‘positive impact on performance, behaviour and mental state’ in a 28-year-old subject, High Times reports.
In the U.S., only two states allow the prescription of medicinal cannabis to treat ADHD and it is only at the doctors discretion.
ADHD is characterised by hyperactivity, impulsivity, difficulty concentrating and forgetfulness.
